The Dickens Project is a thoughtful addition and renovation, transforming a compact three-bedroom, two-bath single-story house into a spacious five-bedroom, 4.5-bath modern home. We preserved the essence of the original layout while introducing a new second story, allowing the house to breathe and welcome light into its renewed spaces.

The architecture embraces a clean, modern aesthetic with a single-sloped roof. The façade features two shades of gray stucco for a sleek, contemporary look, softened by wood-textured metal panels that add warmth. Dark gray window and door frames complement the form, giving the elevation depth and elegance.

The design places great emphasis on natural light in every space. We introduced two tall floor-to-ceiling windows in the double-height living room near the entry, bringing in abundant daylight and a refined aesthetic. The family room at the rear of the house features three large floor-to-ceiling windows, while two large skylights were installed above the kitchen island in the central area to maximize natural illumination. The entire space is designed to be open and bright, significantly enhancing the home’s comfort.

The layout includes dual primary suites, with the main suite and guest suite on the first floor each having private bathrooms. This design improves living quality and offers privacy for in-laws or elderly family members. A glass partition separates the entry office from the living room, defining spaces while maintaining visual flow and openness.

Throughout the home, custom-designed built-in cabinetry has been used. Whether in the study, kitchen, or bedrooms, every space has been optimized through tailored storage solutions. In the laundry room, the washer and dryer have been raised through custom cabinetry for better ergonomic use and convenience.

From architecture and interiors to landscaping, the project was holistically considered from the outset. With its clean and modern style, the completed home has become a highlight of the neighborhood, contributing to the enhancement of the surrounding environment.

Architecture is basically a container of something. I hope they will enjoy not so much the teacup, but the tea.
