Location

Sunnyvale

Situated in a quiet Sunnyvale neighborhood, the Ramona project transforms a classic L-shaped home into a bright and spacious modern residence. Originally designed with a structure ideal for future expansion, the renovation carefully preserves key elements while strategically extending and upgrading the layout.

The front façade sees minimal yet impactful changes, with the original 14-foot-wide garage expanded into a standard two-car garage and the main entry elevated for enhanced presence and curb appeal. Internally, the existing layout retains the secondary bedroom, primary suite, primary bath, and part of the original living room. A new kitchen layout is introduced, along with two additional bedrooms, one bathroom, and a family room—bringing the home to a highly desirable 4-bed, 3-bath configuration.

A butterfly-style sloped roof crowns the new addition, creating a striking architectural transition from the original 8-foot ceiling height to a lofty, light-filled modern space. The design emphasizes openness, brightness, and comfort, with a functional layout and fluid circulation that meets contemporary living needs.

Interior and landscape elements follow the same modern and minimalist design language. Contrasts in material and space create a sense of understated luxury. A custom-designed water fountain outside the dining room’s glass wall acts as a focal landscape feature, blending indoor and outdoor spaces and adding a refined finishing touch to the overall experience.

Architecture is basically a container of something. I hope they will enjoy not so much the teacup, but the tea.
